Some Strong Words From Paul Washer re: Wimpy Preachers

Warning - this is a scorcher!!! Brother Paul Washer is not a happy camper about the warm fuzzy self esteem messages of Joel Osteen or the prosperity preaching of Benny Hinn. Is his criticism unwarranted? You be the judge. But as you ponder that consider the reproach before God of giving lost people false assurance. Come judgment day I think we'll get a clearer picture of those who love the lost and those who love themselves.

You might want to turn down the volume on this one!

I've seen the full sermon. If it's okay I'm going to post the address. It's a great message and worth watching:

He has a few others that are even better. One of which he preached to about 5000 youth. Such a contrast to the type of message the youth are being fed these days. Being a youth pastor it brings my heart joy to see someone lay down the truth, fearing God and not man.

Washer may seem like he's being little hard sometimes but I really believe it's this kind of preaching we as westerners need. I heard he got kicked out of a seeker sensitive church once for a shocking message he delivered. I've been putting myself under his preaching quite a bit lately. I'm finding I'm not getting the rebuke and correction I need at my local church and it's so easy for my flesh to grow like some kind of nasty weed when all I hear is "Jesus loves me", or "Jesus has a plan for my life", or any of that other feel good, milk and cookie preaching that tickles peoples ears. Jesus has a plan for my life... to nail it on the cross that his life may be manifest in me! I want God! I want to be sanctified not serenaded. I want correction not comfort! I rejoice and thank God there are men not comprimising the truth for the sake of skin deep conversion.

"For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a servant of Christ." - Galatians 1:10

Thanks for the post Cameron,
God bless you

You can read my take on Benny Hinn here, if you feel so inclined.
