I hold that the Reformation was a disgusting hate fest. I get this from my reading of the history of the 16-17th centuries.
Oh, they had the sounder doctrine, but their fruit shows they did not believe it
After all what was Martin Luther's doctrine worth to him when foul temper and even fouler mouth showed him by his fruit for what he was?
Do we know a person by his love, or only by his expressed sound doctrine?
if the latter then the Pharisees were the closest to Christ of all his contemporaries (after all the Saducees denied the resurrection of the dead)
Do we owe and apology to the Pharisees, or do we see that if wisdom is not know by its fruit then it is not honestly believed.
For all its sounder doctrine the
Reformation was in fact a speed bump on the downward road to apostasy.
Because i come to believe more and more in sola scriptura as i get older, and more and more in the sole mediatorship of Christ, i get my truth from the Bible and the Spirit and not from any segment of church history, and I certainly will not hold ANY of them up for admiration
