For disclodure's sake, I was raised in the SBC and left the church for two decades and have recently been truly saved and suscribe to a largely reformist theology. I am a single father of a daughter who is almost a teenager. That being said, Driscoll strikes me as arrogant and cocky. I have a hard time envisioning him as a himble man. I get that from his online persona. He is a man of the world, if seems to me. He espouses some great theology, in words. However, he seems singleminded in his war on single men as the worst thing sin the serpent in Eden. My faith was burned by a youth pastor who was as slick and worldy as Driscoll takes great pains to appear as. This ,minister ended being divorced, marrying a former youth member more than half his age, and then ended up with his own church. I wonder what motivates his vitriolic diatribes against single men that so blatantly excuses single women by the absence of balanced commentary. Driscoll does a huge disservice to himself and his minitry, in my opinion, when he perpetrates this culturally hip persona that is made worse with flippant remarks, insults, arrogance, and little outward display of compassion. Granted, I do not know the man and may be misjudging him. However, I have listened to probably 10 of his sermons, maybe more and this is the overall impression I have of him.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7670425954609557512.post-51134450470364456692010-06-11T16:46:21.202-07:002010-06-11T16:46:21.202-07:00I think we would all do well to heed Phil Johnson&...I think we would all do well to heed Phil Johnson's counsel. It is also worth noting the danger that if Driscoll takes an inch, many under his influence may take a mile - and some contend that it is already happening!Cameron Buettelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13217501740084187739noreply@blogger.com
